Overview


The Bilateral relations between Qatar and the French Republic dates back to 1971, when France was among the countries that recognized the independence of the State of Qatar. The embassy of the State of Qatar in Paris was opened for the first time in 1971 and was based in Jena Square (1, Place d'Iéna) in sixteenth arrondissement, then was moved at the end of 1975 to another place in the 57 K d'Orsay in the Seventh Arrondissement, not far from the French Foreign Ministry

Since 2007, the Embassy of the State of Qatar has moved to its new location in the famous Champs-Elysees Avenue, opposite the Arc de Triomphe. This building is the Palace "to Andolfo-Karkano" which was built in 1868, it has been Ranked among the ancient monuments of Paris in 1975, as it is filled with murals and oily drawn paintings on the walls, as well as sculptures of famous French and European painters, such as Rembrandt, Rubens, Rodin, Frémiet, Chaplin, Galland, and Mazerolles
